THE MUDROOM HOUSE
Fair Haven Heights, Connecticut

2023 Building Project I

Collaborators: Max Coolidge, Sarah Farley, Basel Hussain, Qanani Tolera, Niuniu Zhao

A simple cruciform organization allows the project to stitch two individual family units together and create a shared kitchen/dining space along the hem of a gracious, yet efficient mudroom.

While the entry corridor space is typically marginalized, it becomes the connective tissue between private and public realms in this project. The mudroom creates visual and auditory separation between private living quarters, which become secluded and quiet spaces for each family.
