This project reimagines the commuter experience by reconstructing and extending the decaying jetty into a seamless transit hub and a vibrant social space for an increasingly cosmopolitan Versova.

The horizontal extension from existing jetty introduces a double-height long hall with ferry access and waiting areas for both passengers and scooter riders. The design ensures an uninterrupted flow from arrival to departure, accommodating sea level fluctuations and peak commute hours. The building’s elongated form enhances natural cross-ventilation, while a ventilated mechanical attic enclosed with perforated blocks from recycled concrete maintain thermal comfort throughout the day. Through principles of material circularity, the reconstruction utilizes a precast system by recycling old concrete piles from nearby sites to minimize costs and construction time while embedding material history on the the jetty’s facade.

The vertical extension takes the form of a platform roof deck, activating the jetty in the evening with spaces for a jazz bar and an open-air gym. This transforms the transit jetty into a vibrant social space, offering leisure with views of the dynamic Versova Bay.
